Stava Building President Curt Hellen Issues Response to COVID-19

To our esteemed clients:

Stava Building holds itself to a high standard regarding the conduct of our employees, subcontractors and suppliers while executing your important project. To that end, we must act to provide as safe an environment as we possibly can for those on or around our project sites considering the recent COVID- 19 (coronavirus 2019) developments.

Many of our projects take place inside of active or occupied buildings or campuses that conduct business in an ongoing manner. Because of this, we also amend our safety policies and procedures to account for all site-specific conditions, as well as basic security and access concerns.

At present time, Stava Building is operating in a very cautious manner about continuing operations. Our current practices have been amended to include:

• Enhanced sanitation practices

Frequently removing refuse from within the jobsite

Immediate discarding of water bottles, lunch refuse, etc.

• Enhanced hygiene

Frequent and thorough hand washing

Hand sanitizing/wipes onsite

Cover all coughs and sneezes, and properly dispose of tissues immediately after use

Avoid touching of face, eyes, mouth, and nose

Avoid shaking hands or touching of others (fist bumps, elbow bumps, etc.)

• Notification from any subcontractor or supplier if they experience any employee who tests positive for the COVID-19 virus.

Additionally, we continually monitor the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations, and have asked that:

• Employees who do not feel well stay at home. This is without fear of retribution.

• Onsite personnel perform periodic cleaning of their environment (both offices and workspaces).

• Avoid being within 6’-0” of other personnel.

• No employees venture outside of the project boundaries AT ANY TIME.

• All onsite personnel are ALWAYS to stay within the project boundaries. No one, without exception, is to venture outside of the project boundaries AT ANY TIME.

Please also understand that with such a large-scale outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, we anticipate a number of adverse outcomes that may well impact our ongoing projects. This may include:

• Materials delays to raw or finished goods.

• Transportation delays, or delays at ports of entry.

• Personnel shortages or increased absenteeism.

• Reduced worker output

Because of the unprecedented scale of the COVID-19 interruptions across our industry, we do expect adverse schedule impacts.

The industry’s contract standard, American Institute of Architects, defines a material delay as ...” unusual delay in deliveries, unavoidable casualties or other causes beyond the Contractor’s control...”. While Stava Building reasonably expects this outbreak to affect our projects, please understand that we will do everything within our power to mitigate these potential instances.

We remain dedicated to the safe and faithful execution of your project, as we understand that your projects are material investments, and delaying delivery is not a desirable topic. Please know that we are NOT claiming a delay, but merely stating that in our current environment, we must expect and prepare for realistic impacts in the coming days or weeks.

Your protection, and the protection of your team is of utmost importance, and we will respect any request for activities modification as you may see fit. We also will notify you immediately if we are made aware of anyone on your project who tests positive for COVID-19 or has been in direct contact with someone who tests positive for COVID-19.

We can also modify our interaction for the short-term, including conducting our meetings via Zoom, Skype or other online conference call or virtual meeting platform in lieu of face-to-face meetings.

While COVID-19 may have likely required changes to your daily routine, we at Stava stand ready and willing to adapt to serve you in as convenient and expeditious manner as possible.

Stava Building certainly wishes that you, your coworkers and your family remain safe and healthy during this time.

If at any time you would like to speak with me, please do not hesitate to contact me at: O: (918) 710-2030
